About this course
About 60% of Americans are considered overweight or obese. Many of them have tried countless diets and exercise programs in an effort to lose excess baggage and get healthier. The fattening of America (and much of the rest of the world) has contributed to terrifying rates of heart problems, cancer, diabetes and larger seats in baseball stadiums (OK, I admit that last one is not as terrifying). “If Americans continue to pack on pounds, obesity will cost the USA about $344 billion in medical-related expenses by 2018, eating up about 21% of health-care spending, says the first analysis to estimate the future medical costs of excess weight.” http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/weightloss/2009-11-17-future-obesity-costs_N.htm
And yet, much of the work being done to try to alleviate the weight problem is pointed in the wrong direction, in my opinion. Very few ideas about getting people to healthy weights, focus on getting people to change the way they feel about eating or exercising. And even fewer look toward changing the unconscious behaviors that drive our eating and activity choices. Well, those areas are where the rubber meets the road.
And that's where we come in. It's our job to help folks get there. I think you'll find that when we go at weight problems in the right way, people experience wonderful results. Why? Because eating the right things and doing the right activities becomes a natural part of their existence. It's not something they have to do, it's the way they are!
So let's help! And for me, helping people lose weight is a profound pleasure. And it's not just because of folks living longer. It's more about them living happier. When you help people get themselves in rapport with other levels of themselves, they're happier, more fulfilled and get closer to being the people they want to be. Now that's fulfilling!
Let's get started,Keith
